An application specialist is a member of the Professional Services group. As a 3D scanning applications specialist, an individual will support the sales team during engagement with scanning opportunities in a pre-sales capacity, followed by post-sales support by performing installation & training. An applications specialist needs to be an effective decision-maker, possessing excellent teamwork and communication skills, yet can work independently and feel confident to make decisions. Having an entrepreneurial, small-business mentality, demonstrating a can-do attitude with emphasis on teamwork, and out-of-the-box thinking, are all vital to success in this role.

This position will be reporting from our Oakville, ON office.



  • Engage with sales team to ensure scanning opportunities are properly qualified
    • Assist with applications assessment and use cases
  • Coordinate and host Artec scanning demos and webinars: web, and/or live as required
  • Support pre-sales initiatives by coordinating, scheduling, and managing pre-sales demos of scanners and associated software for team
    • Assess purchase-readiness to ensure demos are being performed to correct customers
  • Ensure pre-sales team is equipped to host web-demos regionally
  • Create and maintain an up-to-date pre-sales Artec demo log


  • Play a critical role in providing the highest level of on-going support to our customers utilizing Artec scanning technologies thru follow up calls and visits.
  • Ensure all Artec pre-install registrations are completed
  • Host on-site or remote training sessions; at point of sale and recurring throughout product lifecycle
  • Assist Pre-Sales team to provide onsite training
  • Ensure training courses remain current with new technology and industry developments

Scanning Services

  • Quote, manage and deliver scanning and reverse engineering services as a part of the Professional Services team

Vendor Relations

  • Ensure Artec Portal is current and up to date
  • Manage communications between Artec and Javelin team
  • Schedule team training to ensure highest certifications are achieved
    • Personal and for rest of team

Business Development

  • Ensure Pre-Sales team is current with all Artec applications and verticals. Provide competitive scanning information and resources to help ensure Pre-Sales and Sales team is current with competitive landscape
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to ensure excellent exposure:  on-line, trade shows and workshops
  • Create, support and deliver Artec scanning Webinars
  • Ensure training courses remain current with new technology and industry developments


  • Degree, diploma or certification:  Industrial design, design, engineering
  • Previous 3D scanning experience preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with hosted CRM systems; NetSuite experience an asset
  • Well organized, superb time management, effective and efficient
  • Team player; willingness to exceed expectations to support Professional Services initiatives
  • Support coworkers in all departments
  • Ability to travel to support pre-sales and marketing initiatives
  • Occasional travel to the U.S. required
