Javelin Technologies, Canada's leading provider of 3D Technology, is expanding our team and looking for a dedicated Data Management Application Engineer for our Technical Services Division in either our Vancouver BC, Calgary or Edmonton AB Offices.

An individual who is well spoken, a fast learner, has positive energy. As part of the Technical Services Team this role is responsible for providing SOLIDWORKS PDM, MANAGE, and PLM product support and training (primary), and implementation and consulting (secondary) services to our customers.


  • Provide comprehensive technical support for SOLIDWORKS data management products
  • Understand customers business needs, processes and workflows to aid with configuring workflows
  • Train customers on SOLIDWORKS data management products
  • Implement and deliver SOLIDWORKS DATA MANAGEMENT services
  • Identify opportunities for up-selling and future business for Javelin
  • Travel regularly to customer sites to provide onsite support and training (occasional weekend and evening travel)
  • Occasional afterhours work may be needed (time compensated)
  • Liaise with customers and in-house staff and partners regarding technical information as related to SOLIDWORKS DATA MANAGEMENT
  • Provide explicit instructions related to SOLIDWORKS DATA MANAGEMENT to external and internal customers
  • Interpret inquires related to SOLIDWORKS DATA MANAGEMENT and SOLIDWORKS and provide technical solutions as required
  • Troubleshoot issues with training equipment
  • Create engaging presentation using available software tools
  • Write technical articles, record screen capture video of software processes for publishing to the organizations technical blog and YouTube channel
  • Occasionally attend tradeshows and SOLIDWORKS user group meetings


  • Minimum of a 3-year Engineering or IT Technology Diploma, Bachelor of Engineering or IT Degree REQUIRED
  • Minimum of 1 2 years of experience utilizing a file management system and/or database. SOLIDWORKS PDM DATA MANAGEMENT experience REQUIRED
  • Experience using SOLIDWORKS or have core understanding REQUIRED
  • Certified Enterprise PDM Administrator (CEPA) REQUIRED
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical CAD and design industry REQUIRED
  • Business Analyst background/experience REQUIRED
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 7, 8, Server 2008 R2 or later, SQL 2008 R2 or later REQUIRED
  • Excellent customer relations ability REQUIRED
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office 2013/2016 applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) REQUIRED
  • MUST have strong verbal, written and listening communication skills
  • MUST be capable of sustained typing speed of at least 40 WPM; faster the better (a typing speed test will be administered during interview process)
  • MUST practice good time management and task prioritization abilities
  • MUST possess a valid driver's license
  • MUST have access to a motor vehicle
  • MUST be capable of briefly lifting to 65 lbs. (mobile laptop cases consisting of 4 laptops and accessories)
  • A creditable and lively presenter with a professional demeanor
  • Solid understanding of engineering process and terminology, and solid modelling process and jargon
  • Capable of computer networking and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with SQL/T-SQL scripts an asset
  • Experience providing tech support services preferred
  • Additional industry experience (Product design, tooling design, mold design, industrial design, electrical systems design) an asset
  • Ability to travel to the United States of America preferred
