We are looking for a Assistant Controller 21 month Maternity Leave Contract, based out of our Oakville, Ontario head office. This position will appeal to candidates who are looking for an Accounting opportunity with responsibilities for handling accounting related activities.


  • Accounts Payable
  • Reconcile account for large vendors
  • Review, approve and process employee expense reports
  • Prepare bank deposits and issue refunds
  • Review A/R aging and make entries as needed
  • Run credit card transactions
  • Prepare accruals
  • Review and follow-up on open orders; run open orders meeting
  • Track inventory
  • Record inter-company transactions
  • Perform bank reconciliation
  • Monitor cash-flow and prepare cash-flow forecasts
  • Process biweekly payroll
  • Process year-end T4's
  • Prepare T2200 forms
  • Prepare monthly HST and PST returns
  • Prepare department financials
  • Prepare year-end EHT returns
  • Assist in the preparation of grant reports
  • Assist order management department


  • 2 + years of experience in a similar role
  • Accounting diploma or degree (or working towards)
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Knowledge of accounting cycle, A/P, A/R, basic calculations and reporting for payroll, month end journal entries
  • Experience working with NetSuite and QuickBooks an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Personable
